I am a pretty frugal person. I think this comes as quite a surprise to most people who don't know me. I do however, sometimes dream of what life would be like to walk into a store and never look at a price tag, purchasing whatever caught my attention...and then suddenly I snap out of it...$68...seriously???..for a T-Shirt???!!! This was my recent reaction as I drooled over a shirt that I thought was adorable at one of my favorite, higher end, boutiques. I love to browse and dream and get great ideas but, can you believe that people actually pay $68 for a t-shirt?
I have to admit, I really loved the shirt, I just couldn't fathom the cost so, I thought...I could make that.
I went straight to my closet and picked out a scoop neck fitted t-shirt...
You know all the buttons that come in those little bags as extra's on outfits. I usually stash them all in a drawer. I pulled 3 of them out that had just the right amount of bling and that I thought looked good together. I placed them unevenly around the neckline.
Then I used some embroidery floss and an upholstery needle and stitched them in place.
I took out my collection of random beads and strung them along the neckline, attaching the string of beads securely at the top shoulder seams and then again at each button.
I draped a few extra strings of beads just between the buttons, and there you have it...
My version of the $68 t-shirt for..."FREE"!!! I think it turned out pretty cute and whoever says they don't LOVE that price is crazy.
